Field Manager

This position serves as the Field Manager over the Kanab Field Office within the Color Country District. He or she will be responsible for planning, implementing, and/or administering natural resources programs in a multi-resource environment involving the management of public lands. Major duties include but are not limited to:
Providing overall supervisory/managerial responsibility for a large staff in multiple disciplines, including hiring, training, development, performance, and overall organization effectiveness. Interpreting departmental and bureau policy and directives, making final field office planning and program decisions, including resolution of both long range and day to day planning and program conflicts. Developing, implementing, and carrying out a wide range of multiple use, resource management programs such as fisheries, wildlife, fuels, recreations, and land management consistent with Bureau and Departmental Policies and within delegated authority. Conducting a proactive and open public relations program to improve public awareness and support of BLM programs. Supervisory Probationary Period:
If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period, if one has not previously been completed. Physical Demands:
Works in an office setting with occasional required trips to the field where walking long distances over rough terrain may occur.Work Environment:
Works in an adequate lighted and heated office. Subject to injuries out in the field when walking rough terrain and exposure to uncomfortable hot and cold temperatures. TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT:
The selectee may be detailed or temporarily promoted, depending on qualifications. If the selectee is not qualified for a Temporary Promotion then he/she may be considered for a Detail. Details will be made under competitive procedures in accordance with BLM's Merit Promotion and Internal Placement Plan. This appointment can be made permanent without further competition.In order to qualify for a Temporary Promotion, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. This experience must also be documented in your resume.In addition to the time-in-grade requirement, to qualify at the GS-13 level you must meet the following:

Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Field Manager. Specialized experience is defined as planning, implementing, and/or administering a natural resource program in a multi-resource environment involving the management of public lands; demonstrated leadership and/or management experience in managing or directing one or more natural resource programs within a multiple-use framework or natural resources management setting; experience working with an established budget system; and managing public lands for multiple use, such as energy, mineral and renewable resources.Please note there are no educational substitutions at the GS-13 level.IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
